Cragwood was our first stop on a two week road trip, and we stayed three nights. It proved to be a great choice. Really well located with garden views across Windermere, the hotel was comfortable, friendly and a great spot to tour from. Our room was well-appointed though perhaps not as stylish as the beautiful hotel exterior might suggest. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, though we must give special mention to Daniel who looked after us in the bar (say no more) and the restaurant. If you do stay here, be sure to book the restaurant as it gets justifiably busy at peak times. The menu is limited, but quality and presentation is high, and the wine list works well with the food. Great value fine dining. Of course, you can also get food served in the extensive lounge area if the relatively small restaurant is busy. If you are looking for a good value spot in the Lake District, where often prices move ahead of the quality, then we can thoroughly recommend Cragwood.

The hotel is set in a stunning location with benches ideally situated for beautiful views. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a double room. The room and bathroom were beautifully appointed and spotless with a super comfy bed and generous toiletries. The added touches of the bottled water and jar of sweets lent a real air of pampering. The purpose of the visit was for complete rest and relaxation and the hotel with its amenities and grounds more than enabled that goal. The weather was unusually hot but there were plenty of shady areas. The proximity of the hotel to Brockholes was also very useful for taking the ferry and lovely walks. Staff were very helpful, providing a voucher for the Ferry and timetable. I needed to get a taxi to Windermere train station at a busy time they went the extra mile to secure a car. It was lovely chatting to the friendly head gardener. She's doing a great job at Cragwood! Can't wait to come back!

We stayed on Tuesday 6th Feb for one night wished it could have been for longer ,it was amazing we were upgraded to the four poster room ,the decor was outstanding, the bed was Huge and very comfortable as were the pillows, tea coffee and hot chocolate provided plus bottled water biscuits and sweets , the bathroom was also excellent with beautiful fluffy towels and face clothes plus lovely toiletries, the staff were very helpful and friendly ,our only disappointment was breakfast ie lack of variety of breads ,food wasn't very hot ,grilled tomato hardly cooked at all and fried egg over cooked , the grounds, garden ect were beautifully maintained and the walk down to the lake not to be missed , we would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends ,and will without doubt visit again .many thanks .

This hotel is truly spectacular. Our room was perfect. We had our dog with us who received a welcome pack which was a lovely touch. Our room was on the first floor with a bay window seat overlooking the garden and were able to watch the deer in the grounds in the early morning. Breakfast was excellent with a very large choice both hot and cold. The gardens are vast and beautiful. You are able to walk down to Windermere lake and enjoy the serenity. The staff could not have been more helpful. Anything we asked for was provided. Extremely peaceful especially when the surrounding towns are busy, to return to Cragwood was heavenly. We would definitely return.

Room was absolutely stunning with clean, fresh decor, a giant 4-poster bed, seating and and a vanity unit. Original stone walls and windows gave it character, but were well maintained. The views from our window of the lake made being in the room enjoyable and relaxing. We loved the dimmer switch lighting which created a very relaxed atmosphere Staff were courteous and friendly, escorting us personally to our room and checking all was ok before he left. They were all smartly dressed and well groomed. Breakfast was enjoyable, cooked to order, plenty of choice for cooked items as well as cereals, pastries, juice and spreads.
